Would you consider this sick? twisted?

A buddy of mine has a rifle with scope caps. He put a smiley face on the inside of the objective cap so that when it is open and you look at the gun from the front you see a smiley face right above the scope. This gun is mainly for hunting. Someone locally here told him that having that smiley face is kind of demented. Is their really anything wrong with this?
